How to Transcribe Audio with Speech to Text

Record in your browser or upload an MP3, then edit the transcript and send it straight to TTS Studio.

Get a written transcript from spoken audio

Speech to Text converts spoken audio into editable text. You can record straight from your microphone, upload an existing MP3, then fix any wording in place and hand the result to TTS Studio for voiceover.

Option A: Record in the browser

  1. Open Speech to Text.
  2. Choose a language from the selector in the top-right of the controls.
  3. Click Start Recording. Allow microphone access when your browser asks.
  4. While recording, the button becomes Stop Recording and the status shows Listening... with a pulsing red dot.
  5. Click Stop Recording. The transcript appears in the Transcript panel below.

Tip: Live recording uses your browser's built-in speech recognition. It works best in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. In browsers without support, the record button is disabled and the page tells you to upload an MP3 instead.

Option B: Upload an MP3

  1. Scroll to Upload MP3.
  2. Click Choose MP3 and pick a file. The selection shows as {filename} · {size}.
  3. Click Transcribe. A spinner shows while the file is being transcribed.
  4. The transcript appears in the Transcript panel.

Edit and use the transcript

The transcript sits in an editable box, so you can correct names or phrasing directly. Above it you will find:

ControlWhat it does
CopyCopies the text to your clipboard; the label becomes Copied
ClearEmpties the transcript box
{n} charactersShows the current length of the text

When you are happy with the wording, click Use in TTS Studio. VocalVia opens TTS Studio with the transcript preloaded, so you can pick a voice and generate audio without copying anything.
